Vault by Vans Reunites with Brooks England LTD to Celebrate Decades of Design and Iconic Heritage

Vans' premium label, Vault by Vans, and prestigious bicycle saddle company, Brooks England LTD, reunite to release a limited edition collection of Vans footwear and Brooks accessories built for riding. In a year where both brands celebrate significant milestones – Vans' 50th and Brooks' 150th anniversary – the two well-respected entities come together for their second collaboration blending classic design with quality craftsmanship to create the utmost sophistication in footwear and bicycle accessories.

The Vault by Vans & Brooks partnership presents laser-etched artwork from designer Taka Hayashi across the TH OG Sk8-Hi LX and TH OG Classic Slip-On LX. Hayashi's imagery and intricate detailing extends from footwear into a deluxe set of Brooks accessories consisting of the Barbican Shoulder Bag and Swift Brooks Saddle.

Since 1866, Brooks England has been constructing leather goods in Smethwick, England. Celebrating their 150th anniversary alongside Vans' 50 years brings forth the best in design and quality from two industry leaders, while honoring their respective styles and histories.

Vans Celebrates 50 Years With The Vault By Vans Checkered Past Collection

Vans kicks off their 50th year as the­­ original action sports footwear and apparel brand by reinterpreting the iconic checkerboard design with the limited edition “Checkered Past” collection. Available only through the premium label, Vault by Vans, this collection expresses the iconic pattern with handwoven leather craftsmanship across footwear and accessories.
The checkerboard is a sacred emblem in Vans’ 50-year history, appearing on cherished footwear forms from their early beginning under the family-owned Van Doren Rubber Company to its modern-day status as a global icon in action sports, music, fashion and art. The “Checkered Past” collection pays tribute to this design heritage with a series of Original Classic styles and Leather Checker Bags.
Traditionally seen as a print, luxurious leather materials refine the checkerboard pattern as an intricate woven arrangement across Vans’ storied silhouettes. In the line-up of Original Classics, the OG Classic Slip-On LX and OG Sk8-Hi LX can be seen in black, white, blue and multicolored checkered executions. 
The Leather Checker Bag completes the collection with two color options that tie back to the footwear capsule.

Vans Presents the Vault by Vans x WTAPS Original Classics Collection

With nearly a decade of stellar collaborations between them, Vans and WTAPS come together once again to unveil an eight-piece footwear capsule for Vault by Vans. Under Vans’ premium imprint, WTAPS crafts a deluxe assortment of Original Classics that is emblematic of both brands’ design legacies. Vault by Vans and WTAPS ready these collaborative executions of the OG Era LX, OG Sk8-Hi LX and OG Style 36 LX for release this September in limited quantities.
Deeply rooted in a philosophy derived from Japanese master craftsman, WTAPS takes an approach to aesthetics that strives to recognize the essence of the items that comprise the material world and realize their hidden potential. Where shape determines function, a sophisticated creed wants to “place things where they should be” in order to release the creative energy that can be found in every form and materialization. The Vault by Vans x WTAPS project takes shape on iconic footwear silhouettes in their truest forms – their original forms. Vans Original Classics are rebuilt from the ground up using the same design specifications as their first size runs, featuring the same fit, padding density, width, foxing height and other characteristics from decades ago.The collaboration kicks off with a trio of OG Era LX colorways that are inspired by the Japanese school uniform and “uwabaki” concept. The uppers are presented in true white while the outsole is marked in various colors – blue, red and green – colors that originally signified a student’s grade level. From there, the OG Sk8-Hi LX is brought forth in a set of materials and tones that channel the vintage styling of another iconic Vans silhouette, the Vans Caballero. A favorite sneaker of WTAPS Founder Tetsu “Tet” Nishiyama’s youth, the Vans Caballero debuted in 1989 as skate legend Steve Caballero’s signature shoe featuring embossed reptile nubuck and durable suede reinforcements. This material build can be seen once again on the OG Sk8-Hi LX in grey/black and all-black styles. The last silhouette in the line-up, the OG Style 36 LX, was created with unity in mind. Taking one hue to all parts of the shoe, the OG Style 36 LX introduces black/black, navy/navy, and burgundy, burgundy versions of itself in the Vault by Vans x WTAPS collection.
