New in Store 10.4.13

New Converse First String in Store 10.4.13
Invincible x Converse First String Jack Purcell Johnny Hi

The result of 3 different leathers and a year-long designing process, this new Invincible x Converse First String Jack Purcell Johnny is also the first collaboration between Converse First String premium sub-brand and a Taiwan-based label. Lavished with premium goat leather, cross stripes of soft Nappa leather on the shoe’s upper helped to form a mosaic appearance. For a distinct contrast, designers added bold leopard pattern leather as heel panel and insole lining, while a zipper ease the put-on, take-off process. Like all other Jack Purcell, white soles and toecaps etched with the Jack Purcell‘s “smiling line” in tonal white serve as one of the collaboration’s signature features. Imprinted with the Invincible logo on the cup sole’s exterior, the Invincible x Converse First String Jack Purcell Johnny comes with matching white and black leather laces. Packaged with a tote lined with leopard pattern print.

New in Store 7.24.13

New Converse First String Deus Ex Machina in Store 7.24.13.

Deus Ex Machina (god from the machine) roared into Australia’s cultural consciousness in 2006, with some neatly customized motorcycles and a quaint notion that doing something is more fun than just owning something. Deus Ex Machina is a step bigger than a brand: it’s a culture.
Deus didn’t set out only to sell custom parts and hand-built motorcycles, but to celebrate a culture of creativity. The Deus Ex Machina showroom/cafe/headquarters in Sydney immediately became a shrine to ‘run-what-you-brung’ resourcefulness and street- honest industrial art.
The Deus philosophy recalls an era before the various pursuits of fun – motorcycling, surfing, skateboarding, whatever – were marketed into fundamentalist factions.
Since opening the doors at the Camperdown Temple of Enthusiasm Deus has spread its own flavor of internally combustible postmodernism around the globe.
First String has teamed up with Deus Ex Machina to collaborate on the Jack Purcell Johnny Mid and Ox cuts. A two-toned Premium Canvas upper with textured suede details on the tongue, heel and sides of the sneaker. Dual branding on the insole as well as the tongue and brass antiqued eyelets.

Unique overlays are added to the shoe’s upper using a tinted  transparent screen-mesh that gives the fabric beneath an off-tone appearance and a modern touch. Gum outsoles, tortoise shell eyelets, and grosgrain ribbon pull-tabs, round out the sophisticated look of these Jack Purcell Johnny shoes.

New in Store 12.12.11

New Converse in Store 12.12.11.

Converse First String Standards Jack Purcell Johnny Hi Black.
The Johnny comes in a resin treated canvas with suede overlays.  The resin treated canvas has a rigid denim fell that is contrasted by the soft suede overlays of the Johnny.
Equal parts refined and rebellious, the Converse Jack Purcell sneaker is inspired by the man behind the iconic smile. In 1935, world-famous badminton champion and tennis pro Jack Purcell helped design his innovative and durable performance court shoe with the iconic smile on the toecap.
The Jack Purcell Johnny sneaker, named after the man himself, offers a traditional take on the classic Purcell style. Debuting in the 1930s as one of the original Jack Purcell silhouettes, the Johnny sneaker features exposed shank detailing on the outsole of the shoe.
Pushing the classic-yet-mischievous lines that define Jack Purcell, the new Converse First String Standards Jack Purcell Johnny Hi sneaker features a resin treated canvas with suede overlays.  The resin treated canvas has a rigid denim fell that is contrasted by the soft suede overlays of the Johnny.    Pinstripe detailing on the rubber midsole offers a finishing touch alongside the signature Jack Purcell smile.
Now available in Black.
